One of the keys to making your dreams come to fruition is giving them time and space to blossom. This means making sure your priorities and daily schedule are in a harmonious relationship.
Your goals and calendar should be best friends.
Years ago, I had a dream of growing my nonprofit and completing coursework towards my life coaching certification while working at a full-time job. I attached that dream to my calendar by scheduling what I called my “dream catching time.” For one hour every single morning, I focused on action steps that built a solid foundation for my nonprofit and allowed me to move closer towards my dreams of becoming a certified life coach. Eventually, during my dream catching time, I was spending time building the foundation for Daphne Valcin Coaching.
When it came time for me to transition from my full-time job to full-time entrepreneurship, the transition was seamless because of the time I had invested each day prior to my transition.
Whether you’re trying to start a business as I did, seek a promotion at your current job, or take some other action towards your career advancement, you have to dedicate time to making it happen.
So how do you do this?
Jot down your top three priorities for this season in your life.
Create a list of what needs to happen in order for you to achieve your goals.
Break down that list into smaller action items. What can you get done in one-hour time blocks?
Take a look at your calendar and schedule one-hour time blocks for 3 to 5 days per week that you can dedicate to dream catching.
At the start of each week, plan out which action items you’ll work on each day (planning ahead is also key!).
Keep up this routine for as long as you need to. Don’t rush the process.
Before you know it, you’ll have accomplished your goals and be able to bask in your much-deserved success.
